Teaching As You Like It is the third solo play in the Teaching Shakespeare Trilogy, Teaching Shakespeare (1999), Teaching Detroit (2001). All three comedies deal with incompetent teaching. Keir Cutler endured 12 years of post-secondary education, and has seen his share of poor teachers.

In Teaching As You Like It, (2006) the inept Shakespearean sinks to high school substitute teaching and is besieged by rumours he's erotically involved with a student. Shakespeare's romantic comedy juxtaposed with a twisted modern day liaison.
