Four and a Half Stars
Veteran
Fringe performer TJ Dawe is back with a new comic monologue about a young
person entering the work force. With his flawless rapid-fire delivery, Dawe
braids together the confessions of three characters: a stock boy at Shopper's
Drug Mart, a mail tracing troubleshooter at Canada Post and a truck driver.
He comments on everything from angry customers to drug store euphemisms and
office Christmas parties.
A cross between a Dilbert comic strip and a Stuart McLean narrative (of CBC Radio fame), the show is full of poignant and wry observations of the working world. What makes it a standout among most Fringe fare is the drawstring ending. Characters whom you actually begin to care about move forward, resolve conflict and learn to make their way in the world. A fine insight from a polished writer and performer
