Destination Labrador

Vancouver actor TJ Dawe takes a smart, funny, highly entertaining look at one of Canada's least-known areas for the Fringe Festival.

Labrador a place worth visiting

What's the biggest city in Labrador? Alright, alright, name any city in Labrador. Gotcha? Don't fret; you're not alone. Like knife and fork, Labrador and Newfoundland go together - but who knows anything about Labrador?'

Well, Vancouver actor TJ Dawe, that's who. When he recognized he knew next to nothing about anything at all, he decided to get to know something about somewhere no one one knew anything about: Labrador. So he went there.

Consciously nerdy and decidedly candid, TJ Dawe is also smart, funny and hugely entertaining.

Labrador is a cool, mile-a-minute performance that's so thick with truisms, Canadianisms and various other isms, you could cross from Labrador to Newfoundland on the backs of them - just like the legendary codfish of old.

Bespectacled and earnest, Dawe is a charmer and it's worth the price of a ticket just to learn how to say "yeah" on the in-drawn breath the way they do in Labrador City which, it turns out, is actually only a town. Yeah.
