Four Stars

As others fuss over form, style and production values, TJ Dawe brings back to the theatre something often forgotten: really good storytelling. With just a bench and himself, he takes the audience somewhere they're unlikely to have been before, the eccentric English seaside tourist Mecca, Butlin's. His tale is captivatingly original, refreshingly authentic and truly funny. A gifted writer, Dawe superbly weaves seemingly disparate parts of the monologue into a real climax and ending.
